About Us
What is Convective Dynamics you may ask? Convective Dynamics is a small storm chasing team that was founded by three men with overlapping common interests, with goal of ultimately building a system to collect data from the storms remotely and safely. Each team member has their own responsibilities and skills. Our team structure focuses on having two team members that chase in the field, one team member runs radar from our home base located in the Greater Peoria Illinois area and relays information to the two chasers via radio over IP. All three team members live stream to Facebook, with the team member at home base running radar and live video from the team members chasing. At the current time (2026) the founders are starting this as a side hobby until the business gets off the ground and running.
How’d the team come together? Well funny story Lane was responsible; he was sharing some funny posts he’d found online and accidently sent the posts to both Addison and Tim in a group chat. He initially thought it was a mistake until he realized how many common interests the group shared. The initial discussion started just a day before the Kankakee, Illinois tornado in March of 2026, Lane was helping Tim by watching radar from his home office the day of the tornado. The day after that tornadic Tuesday in March of 2026, Lane and Tim were discussing the viability of a storm chasing team privately through messages and moments after the idea Lane brought it up in the group chat with both Addison and Tim. That evening the idea for Convective Dynamics was born, full credit of the name idea goes to Addison as he comically already owned the web domain.
